FORMER CONGRESSWOMAN ALLYSON Y. SCHWARTZ TO SPEAK AT POPULATION HEALTH ALLIANCE FORUM

For Immediate Release

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (March 13, 2018) – Former Congresswoman Allyson Y. Schwartz, President and CEO of Better Medicare Alliance (BMA), the leading advocacy coalition for Medicare Advantage, will join the Population Health Alliance and the Jefferson College of Population Health as the keynote speaker at the PHA Forum 2018.

Schwartz is scheduled to speak at the PHA Forum on March 19th at 8:15 am at Loews Philadelphia Hotel, 1200 Market St in Philadelphia, PA.

At the event, Schwartz will talk about the importance of value-based care. The role of Medicare Advantage in the move to value-based care in today’s health system is one of the top issues for BMA.

“Population Health is all about alignment to create value for consumers and all stakeholders. It therefore could not be more fitting that we have Congresswoman Allyson Y. Schwartz an extraordinary policy maker and executive, deliver our annual Forum’s keynote: Views from Washington on the Shift to Value-based Care. There has never been a more important time for Population Health in the evolution of healthcare for our nation’s citizens” said Rose Maljanian, Chairman & CEO HealthCAWS and Chairman of the Board for the Population Health Alliance.

Under Schwartz’s leadership since 2015, BMA has focused on strengthening health care quality and affordability in Medicare. Currently, BMA is the leading coalition of nurses, doctors, heath plans, employers, aging service agencies, advocates, retiree organizations and beneficiaries supporting Medicare Advantage with over 100 allies and 300,000 beneficiaries.

“I’m excited to join the Population Health Alliance to talk about one of BMA’s top issues, value-based care, and ensure the importance of continued access to high-quality, cost-effective care,” said Schwartz.
