Better Medicare Alliance Unveils “Ally Voices” Video Series Highlighting Top Health Care Leaders

Testimonials from Meals on Wheels America, National Hispanic Medical Association, and ChenMed round out first set of videos

Washington, D.C. – Better Medicare Alliance, a community of more than 425,000 beneficiaries and 143 ally organizations supporting Medicare Advantage (MA), unveiled the first in a new series of “Ally Voices” videos, highlighting perspectives of some of the nation’s top health care leaders on the value of Medicare Advantage.

In the video series, executives from Better Medicare Alliance-allied organizations speak out on the importance of Medicare Advantage to the beneficiaries they serve and the significance of their partnership with Better Medicare Alliance.

The first set of videos, released today, includes testimonials from

  • Dr. Elena Rios, President and CEO, National Hispanic Medical Association
  • Dr. Gaurov Dayal, President of New Markets and Chief Growth Officer, ChenMed
  • Lucy Theilheimer, Chief Strategy and Impact Officer, Meals on Wheels America

“Our 143 ally organizations contribute a depth of experience and expertise to our shared goal of presenting the innovation in health care that is driven by Medicare Advantage,” said Allyson Y. Schwartz, President and CEO of the Better Medicare Alliance. “In these videos, you will hear from those on the frontlines of health care about the real-world impact of Medicare Advantage and the critical work that Better Medicare Alliance is doing to ensure its potential is fully realized for millions of beneficiaries. We thank our ally organizations for lending their voices to this effort, for their invaluable partnership with Better Medicare Alliance, and for the work that each of them does to improve health care for the Medicare population.”

Dr. Elena Rios, President and CEO of the National Hispanic Medical Association explained in her video testimonial, “We really believe that Medicare Advantage is the future for our communities.” Rios noted the program’s popularity with Hispanic Americans; 57 percent of Medicare-eligible Hispanic Americans are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan.

“Better Medicare Alliance is one of the preeminent voices that speak for Medicare Advantage … we’re thrilled to be part of the organization,” said Dr. Gaurov Dayal, President of New Markets and Chief Growth Officer at ChenMed. “Given the financial structure of Medicare Advantage, it enables us to provide services for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries like transportation, very low physician to patient ratios, specialty care on site, and other ancillary benefits that would only happen under [MA].”

“Medicare and Medicare Advantage are hugely important to the future of the Meals on Wheels network and its ability to serve the millions of seniors who are struggling with hunger and isolation every day,” added Lucy Theilheimer, Chief Strategy and Impact Officer for Meals on Wheels America in her video testimonial. “Medicare Advantage opens up the opportunity to reach many more seniors who could benefit from these services.”

With new videos launching every two weeks over the coming months, forthcoming Ally Voices testimonials will include messages from University of Michigan V-BID Center, Visiting Nurse Service of New York, Solera, National Association of Health Underwriters, Oak Street Health, Teacher’s Retirement System of Kentucky, Landmark Health, Healthcare Leadership Council, and others.
